Congratulations on your successful installation of AVG Free. If you have not installed AVG yet, then please visit our Installation page for Avg Antivirus.

After Installation, you should see an icon in your sytem tray (bottom right) It should look something like this : .

AVG will then run through its initial Setup and Checks. You will see a window that looks like the one below, click Next.



It will then ask you to check updates to verify that you are running the most current version of the Virus checker. You will need to be connected to the internet for it to update. Click Internet, let it run, and after it is done, click next.



Now you will be on the Create a recovery disk window. Here if you choose to create one, simply click the Create a rescue disk button. After it is done, you will then click next on the same window to proceed to the next stage.



Then you will be asked to scan your computer to verify that you are not currently infected. This is a very important step, and I would not suggest you skip it. It will take a while, but the value of knowing whether you are infected with a virus or not is worth it.



You will see it scan through all your files and drives, let it run, in the end it will give you a report. If you are clean, great! You are now ready to use AVG on a regular basis.
